Intermediate Phase (Dual Grades)

Overview
Building upon the Foundation Phase, this stage focuses on developing more formal literacy and numeracy skills, expanding knowledge of the world, and encouraging independent learning.
- Compulsory Subjects (as per GDE requirements for Intermediate Phase):
- First Additional Language: Continued development of communication skills, with increasing complexity in vocabulary and sentence structure.
- Home Language: Further development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, including grammar and comprehension.
- Mathematics: More advanced numeracy skills, including operations with larger numbers, fractions, decimals, problem-solving, geometry, and data handling.
- Natural Sciences and Technology: Exploration of the natural world, basic scientific concepts, and an introduction to technological processes.
- Life Skills: Continued development of personal and social well-being, physical education, creative arts, and health education.

Choice Subjects:
Similar to the Foundation Phase, formal "choice" subjects are limited, with elements of art, music, drama, and physical activities integrated within Life Skills.
