Overview:Compulsory Subjects (as per GDE requirements for Senior Phase)
The final stage of the Senior Phase consolidates learning from previous grades and further prepares learners for the subject choices they will need to make in the FET (Further Education and Training) Phase (Grades 10-12).
- Home Language: Advanced language proficiency and critical analysis skills.
- First Additional Language: Fluent communication and a deeper understanding of the language and its culture.
- Mathematics: Algebraic concepts, geometry, trigonometry, data handling, and problem-solving.
- Natural Sciences: Comprehensive understanding of fundamental scientific principles across biology, chemistry, and physics.
- Social Sciences: In-depth study of historical events, geographical patterns, and contemporary social issues.
- Technology: Advanced technological skills, design thinking, and understanding of the impact of technology.
- Economic and Management Sciences (EMS): Deeper understanding of economic principles, business practices, and financial literacy.
- Arts and Culture: Further exploration and development of skills in various art forms and understanding of cultural contexts.
- Life Orientation: Continued focus on personal growth, career exploration, healthy living, and citizenship.
Choice Subjects:
Similar to Grade 6/7, limited choices might exist within Arts and Culture.
