SASSA Payment Dates October 2026
SASSA has confirmed the October 2026 social grant payment dates. Older Persons Grants are paid on Friday, 2 October, Disability Grants on Monday, 5 October, and Children’s Grants on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. The SRD R370 grant follows its own schedule later in the month.
The dates come from the Department of Social Development’s approved 2026/27 payment schedule. Below you’ll find every October date, the current grant amounts and what to do if your money doesn’t arrive.

Why the gap after the first payment day? 3 and 4 October fall on a weekend, and SASSA never pays on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays. There are no public holidays in October 2026, so the only shift is the weekend.
SASSA Grant Amounts for October 2026
The 2026 Budget increases took effect in April. October brings one extra change: the Foster Child Grant rises by R10 to R1,300.

SRD R370 Payment Dates for October 2026
The R370 Social Relief of Distress grant is not part of the three-day schedule. SASSA pays it in batches, usually during the last week of the month; the September cycle, for example, was paid on 23 and 25 September. Each approved applicant gets an individual pay date.
To see yours, check your status at srd.sassa.gov.za using your ID number and registered cellphone number. The SRD grant has been extended until 31 March 2027.
Grant Reviews and the Extra Payment Day
SASSA plans to review more than 350,000 grants this financial year. If your grant is selected for a review or eLife Certification, you may be paid on a separate day after the normal cycle and will be notified by SMS. Complete the review at your nearest SASSA office quickly; ignoring it can lead to your grant being suspended.
Tips for Collecting Your October Grant
- You don’t have to withdraw on payment day. Your money stays in your account until you need it.
- Collect at your bank, an ATM, or retailers such as Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer and Pick n Pay to avoid queues.
- Submit banking detail changes before the 19th of the month so the next payment isn’t delayed.
